Sunwave now has less shop clutter and more cash

We know a bunch of you have had this same challenge. A growing pile-up of plumbing supplies in our shop, but no great way to make sure those items actually got used.

Technicians picked up some extra for a job 'just in case', and then it ended up in the shop to collect dust. Waste of $ and waste of space (physical and mental).

A few months ago Sunwave stopped keeping any inventory in the shop, and we took a new tack. If you have something extra that isn't stocked on your van, either:

Return It   or Toss It

I think it just took the guts to say 'throw it out if you have to', we're not wasting time or energy on it.

Nothing comes back to the shop.

Our local supply house VAMAC simply charges a small restocking fee, which we're happy to pay to have them manage the inventory for us. Home Depot is just as easy.

More than you'd think can be returned, and the occasional item that can't be isn't helping anyone by sitting on a shelf collecting dust. Throw it out. Recycle it. Donate it. Anything but letting it sit in our shop.

Now folks pause a little before taking too much so they don't have to return it later, and since they keep their Piper Van stocked they've already got most of the odds and ends on hand as backup.

Not sure why we didn't take this approach sooner! I think it just took the guts to say 'throw it out if you have to', we're not wasting time or energy on it.
